 From 55WA web site

I have this picture from my father I am not sure where it was taken.   He was an EWO and NAV.  Our family does not have a lot of info.  I thought you may like to add it your collection for the website.
The AC was Jimmy Jones far left.  My dad Capt. Hubert D. Mattson was in the far right.  He did receive the DFC for what we don’t know.  I may have to request the info from the govt.
I was born in 1959 and dad just may have graduated from NAV school out of Keelser AFB.  He was 3rd in his class. We were in Forbes maybe 1960-62  I do remember we were in Eielson AFB around the 63-64.   Then later at SAC in the 1968-69 then back to Eielson early 70s then back to SAC to 1974 retirement.

Unfortunately I cannot provide any specific information regarding the award of your dad’s DFC. I am info copying Earl Hoberman and Don Griffin who “may” have some knowledge and may have suggestions as to where you might locate the data. I also am including Jim Nelson’s address and phone number. Jim is the navigator in the center of the photo you provided. Robb Hoover who passed recently was the Association Historian and knowing Robb I would expect he might have had what you seek...or sent you in the proper direction to obtain it. Perhaps…and hopefully….someone reviewing the association web site and your request will respond.

Good luck and best wishes for success in your quest. I knew your dad. He was a friend and comrade. Videmus Omnia,

Looks good! May he rest in Peace. He was dedicated to SAC and our 55th. It was an honor to have served with him, he who came from a small railroad town (Baden?)south of Pittsburgh on the Ohio River.

Please pass my very best regards to Hilda.

They finally got this corrected.  Thanks for your input - SAC meant a lot to my Dad and yours was a great suggestion.
Hilda doing well - still in independent living at 91!
